April Douglas

Reporter

April Douglas joined the FOX10 News team in November 2007. A Mobile native, she is excited to be back in a city she loves and knows well.

A graduate of Murphy High School, April went on to receive a bachelor of science degree from the University of Montevallo, where she was awarded the Everette Holly Award for Outstanding Achievements in News Reporting.

April’s television career started in Marianna, Florida. She spent two years covering five rural counties as the Chief Bureau Reporter for WMBB in Panama City, Florida. Some of the highlights of her time there include flying with the Blue Angels and exposing an illegal fireworks dealer.

From Panama City, April moved to Florida’s capital city, Tallahassee. She spent five years with WCTV, the number one station in the market. She started out as a general assignment reporter, but moved into the Weekend Anchor slot shortly after joining the team. While at WCTV, she blazed the trail for other Anchors and Reporters, as the first to helm the Daybreak morning show, which was ranked 13th in the nation for its time slot.

April left WCTV as the Live at Five Anchor.  It was on this show April inspired women and men to gain control of their health with her “Summer Slimdown” report. She also started the “Will it Work Wednesday” segment, testing products recommended by viewers. She also volunteered with the Leon County Humane Society and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. She also hosted the Jerry Lewis March of Dimes Telethon.

April and her husband Brent are the proud parents of two boys, Noah and Kipper. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
