Lenise Ligon loves being a journalist and takes the responsibility of bringing news to the community very seriously.

Lenise Ligon joined WALA in March 2008, as the co-anchor of FOX10 News at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Before working her way to the Gulf Coast, Lenise began her career as an entertainment host in her hometown of metro-Detroit for WDIV. From there, Lenise worked at WKBN as a reporter in Youngstown, OH. She then moved on to WNEM in Saginaw, MI as a reporter/anchor. Next, she spent three years at WBTV in Charlotte as a co-anchor of the morning and noon newscasts.

Lenise received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Spanish from Michigan State University. She loves speaking at schools and devoting her time to various community organizations. She has received many awards for her volunteerism. Lenise has also long been involved with the American Heart Association and has been recognized by the organization for her passion in educating the public on keeping your heart healthy.

In her free time, Lenise loves to travel and spend quality time with family and friends. Lenise likes movies and watching basketball and football too-she's a huge Detroit Pistons and Lions fan. She likes foreign languages as well and has recently studied Chinese.

Lenise's biggest role models have always been her mother and grandmother. "My mother is one of my best friends. She was a single parent and among the many lessons she taught me, there's one that always stuck with me, that you have to work hard for what you want in life. Ethel, my grandmother, was perhaps the biggest giver I've ever known. She spent much of her life helping others and would have never hesitated to give a complete stranger the clothes off her back."

Lenise and her husband currently reside in Baldwin County with their son Sidney.
