Fox 10 News anchor Bob Grip marked his 28th anniversary at Fox 10 in August, 2012, and was named the 2010 Best TV News Anchor in the state by the Alabama Broadcasters' Association, an honor which earned him a mention in the Congressional Record.  He anchors the award-winning Fox 10 News weeknights, and has once again been named "Readers' Choice Local TV News Anchor" in the Mobile Register's "Readers' Choice Awards" competition (October, 2012), and Best TV Anchor by the readers of Mobile Bay Monthly (January, 2008). He has also been honored for "Best In-Depth Reporting" and "Best Community Service" by the Mobile Press Club and has been named the "Best Anchor in Alabama" three times by the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

In 2013, he received his second "ABBY" award from the Alabama Broadcasters' Association for Best Use of New Media for his reports from London and the Farnborough International Air Show, using only his iPhone, iPad, digital camera and Dropbox.

Bob also makes a cameo appearance in the movie, "Fair Game", starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts.

In July, 2003, he was honored with the "John Harris Achievement Award" from the Mobile Press Club. The Harris Award is presented to a member of the news media "who has made a consistently excellent contribution over a period of time". In December, 2004, he received the "Father Jimmy Byrnes" award from the Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of Mobile (CYO) for "outstanding service to the youth of the Mobile area".

In addition to his anchoring, for the past 18 years he has produced "Fox 10 News Fugitive Files", winner of the 2002 "Best Series" award from the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association. "Fugitive Files" is the successor to "Fox 10 News FBI Files", a weekly series of reports honored by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an effective tool in the fight against crime.  Due to this program's success, Bob Grip was honored in 1996 by FBI Director Louis Freeh with the "Director's Community Leadership Award".  To date, "Fugitive Files" has helped capture more than 500 suspects.

Grip is a cum laude graduate of Boston College, where he earned Bachelor's Degrees in Communications and Secondary Education. He also received a Master's Degree in Journalism from The Ohio State University where he was also a Teaching Associate in the School of Journalism.  In 2006, Boston College invited Grip to return to campus to address hundreds of students in its Communication department. 

For more than 20 years, he has served as Quizmaster for the HiQ academic quiz program, and has been honored as the Best Quizmaster nationwide.

In his spare time, he also teaches Multimedia Journalism at Spring Hill College in Mobile.  He is the past president of an international organization devoted to the study of a twentieth century author and monk, Thomas Merton.  Grip's presidential address, looking at the influence of Merton and Archbishop Fulton Sheen, can be found here.  He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Byzantine Catholic Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Grip has worked professionally in broadcasting since 1970, most of that time in television. He has received a number of awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, and the American Bar Association.

In 1988, Grip traveled to the Vatican to produce a half hour documentary on Archbishop Oscar Lipscomb's visit to Pope John Paul II. (Click the video tab above to watch the program). Grip also brought Fox 10 News viewers reports from Europe following the death of the Pope. During 1993, Grip flew to Kuwait to present a series of live and taped reports on Operation Desert Peace, a trip designed to honor the families of those who died in the first Persian Gulf War.

In September, 1997, he spent a week on assignment in France, preparing a series of reports on the "Splendor of Versailles" and, in 2000, spent a week in Spain preparing a series of reports on the "Majesty of Spain", both exhibitions that came to Jackson, Mississippi.

Grip traveled to London in July, 2012 to cover the Farnborough International Air Show, shortly after Mobile was awarded a contract to assemble aircraft for Airbus. 

Grip is married, and has two daughters who were both Azalea Trail Maids and two awesome grandsons named Ben and Gabriel.
