Lost camera owner happy "there's still good people"

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - After FOX10 brought you a story about a camera that was found in downtown Mobile following the Mardi Gras parades, we've returned that camera to its owner.

Memories can be fleeting, especially when it's a collection of digital images that can easily be destroyed or lost.

“It does have a lot of wonderful family pictures and I'm sure whoever lost it wants it back,” said Sally Ash, from Bartlesville, Oklahoma, who turned the camera over to FOX10.

When Ash turned to us to find the owner of a camera she found on the streets of downtown Mobile, we put it on the news. It was one of our younger viewers who recognized his mom's camera.

“My son, he's seven, he saw it on the news,” said Carmen Roberts. “He said, 'Momma, I found your camera.'"

Roberts said she took her two sons to Mardi Gras and took photos with the camera. After the event, she realized the camera was not in her coat pocket.

“At the end of the parade I went back to look for it... We couldn't find it, we walked up and down the street,” said Roberts. “Thank you very much, it's nice to know there's still good people out there."

Mobile Police officials said during Mardi Gras, you can turn found items in at the Command Center on Cedar and Government Streets.
