MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Before they hit the streets Friday night, the Conde Cavaliers put on a private parade for the students of Augusta Evans in Mobile.

Many of the mystic members said it’s their favorite stop during Mardi Gras.

Two large Gulf Coast Tours charter buses pull into the parking lot at Augusta Evans School in Mobile, a sure sign the carnival season has arrived.

Dozens of Conde Cavaliers unload, ready to spread a bit of Mardi Gras cheer to the students."This is our best stop, and we love it," said one of the masked mystics. "These are kids who most cannot go to a parade. We're here for them, and they look forward to it."

Inside faces light up as the Mary G. Montgomery marching band leads the way followed by masked revelers. The Conde Cavaliers toss beads, cups, footballs and more to the students.

Principal Allen Baggett said his students look forward to this event each year, and thanks the Conde's for their time.

"A lot of these kids are not going to Mardi Gras, and for the Conde's to bring it to them is special," Baggett said.

Dancing along with the band, smiling ear to ear, you can tell the students enjoy this just as much at the Conde Cavaliers.

"A lot of fun! I like it, they do it every year," said Edmond who is a student at Augusta Evans.

It's one tradition, everyone involved hopes continues for years to come.

The Conde Cavaliers hit the streets at 6:30 p.m. Friday with "Condes Rock the Jukebox."

The Conde Cavaliers were founded in 1977 and the first Mardi Gras organization to have a parade and ball in their very first year.
