MOBILE, Ala. - Hurricane season will be here before you know it, are you ready? "Yes, I am ready," said one Mobile resident. "I got a generator and gas, just need to get a little bit more food."

While other residents like, Gwen Washington said, "No, I am not ready. I need to get supplies, batteries and flashlights."

The Mobile County Emergency Management Agency is gearing up for the season, it starts June first. But, the big question emergency officials want to know is how many people living along the Gulf Coast need help with transportation in an evacuation.

It plans to find out with a phone call. "Random phone calls to residents from state emergency management agency," said Kim Mitchell, with the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency.

Starting May 18, and running until May 29th, the Baldwin & Mobile County Emergency Management Agencies, along with the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, FEMA and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers are working together on the mission Critical Transportation Needs.

The phone calls cover your families evacuation plan, how do you plan to get out of harm's way. The survey last for two weeks, so if you do get a call, don't hang up.

"Answer the questions the best you can to help us out," said Mitchell. All of the information will be used to find out where help is needed most. The phone survey ends May 29th. You will not be asked any personal information or for money.
