MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Deangelio Williams,19, was shot Saturday morning near the downtown police precinct on Dauphin Street. As of Monday night at 7:30 p.m., Mobile Police said there are no new details to reveal about the case.

The shooting has some downtown business owners concerned about safety.

Flowers in memory of Williams lie in the parking lot off Saint Francis and Claiborne Streets. Police said Williams was shot and killed after a robbery around 2:30 a.m.

"My first reaction was, 'How could anybody be so evil?'" said Raymond Collins, a barber at Cuttin Up Barber Shop. "Take another human's life, in a manner like that?"

The Cuttin Up Barber Shop is connected to the parking lot where the shooting happened. Collins and fellow barber Jimmy Richardson believe police patrols should have a wider radius in that area.

"They need more presence on the back streets of downtown other than Dauphin Street," said Richardson, who grew up nearby. "Any given night on Dauphin Street, you'll run into 10-20 officers, but one block over on St. Francis or St. Louis, you see no officers."

It's an area that Richardson and Collins say is very populated during weekend evenings.

"A lot of people park down here and they take a big risk of having something happening to them like what happened to Deangelio," said Collins.

There are multiple surveillance cameras set up throughout downtown Mobile, but Richardson says few extend past St. Francis Street.

There's a camera here, but not right here," said Richardson pointing at a surveillance camera on St. Francis and Claiborne. "The camera here would have caught exactly what happened. I'm pretty sure the criminals know that. That's why they wait in a little nook, where they know there won't be any eyes on them."

As police continue to investigate, there are plenty of eyes now.

Mobile Police would not comment on the contents of the surveillance video from the camera on St. Francis and Claiborne Streets. Police said they will not release the video.
