BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Judge James Reid sent the jury out Thursday morning around 10:00 a.m., and six hours later there was still no verdict.
So the judge sent everyone home for the day and instructed them to come back Friday morning at 9:00. District Attorney Judy Newcomb isn't commenting on the case until after a verdict is reached.
However, Defense Attorney John Beck says he is not surprised the jury is taking so long to return a verdict.
"They have got a mountain of exhibits to consider, look through. They haven't even started to listen to the audio tapes and video tapes, so we expect this to be a long process," said Beck.
The judge gave the jury three options to consider. They could either find Buzbee guilty of capital murder, felony murder, or not guilty on all counts.
The main difference between capital and felony murder is the death sentence.
Buzbee is on trial for murdering Spanish Fort businessman Bobby
Wilson in 2007. Wilson was found bleeding after being beat over the
head in his repair shop.
