MOBILE, Ala. - The death of a Mobile Police Officer touched many lives, including a Fairhope mother who lost her son to the war in Iraq back in 2004.
Bradley Faircloth and Brandon Sigler went to school together for six years. They met at Murphy high school in 1997 and they both went to Delta State after graduation.
Faircloth's mother, Kathleen, said every time she visited her son at Delta State, she always saw Brandon. She said during that time, they were inseparable on, and off the football field.
"I think Brandon kept Bradley out of trouble up at Delta state, helped him try to get an education instead of just play football," said Faircloth.
Faircloth says during that time, she really got to know Sigler. "He was truly one of the nicest, sweetest, just a good-hearted guy, he really was. He had goals in his life and he worked hard towards getting them. He worked hard to go to school and finish college," she said.
Faircloth says when she got the call that Sigler had been killed, it was like reliving a nightmare.
"It was just like Bradley dying all over again. It's really unbelievable. I just keep thinking it didn't happen," said Faircloth.
But it did. Two men who were friends on and off the football field for years are now gone. But Faircloth says she has a pretty good idea where they are now, "If they can be together, they're playing football right now, definitely."
