MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Former Mobile County Judge Herman Thomas has qualified to run in the Democratic nomination for the Alabama State Senate District 33.

Thomas will compete against the incumbent, Vivian Davis Figures. So far, Thomas and Figures are the only ones who have qualified for the Democratic primary.

No Republicans have qualified to run in District 33.

The primary election is set for June 1. Should a runoff be needed, it will be held on July 13.
