David Greene says many people do not have insurance so it's important for you to have insurance so you're taken care of if you're involved in an accident. And you should always call the police if you're involved in an accident.

Greene says it's a common misconception that you cannot move your vehicle if you're involved in an accident. But if you're vehicle is in the way of traffic and it can be moved, you can move it to the shoulder of the road.

It's also important to know that you do not have to make a statement to the other driver's insurance company. In fact, it's probably a good idea if you don't. It will not help your case. Greene says when an insurance company calls you and asks for a statement, they often are trying to find ways to save themselves money.
