There are certain standards that commercial carriers have to meet that the rest of us don't, The driver may be under the influence of alcohol or prescription drugs. There may be maintenance issues that need to be examined. There may be levels of insurance that are not immediately evident.  The standards are different for company vehicles than for civil vehicles.

How do I know if it’s a commercial carrier?
It can be very hard to tell at times. Other times it’s obvious. Look for logos on the car or truck.
