Three Questions To Ask Your Lawyer

If you're the victim of a car accident, attorney David Greene from Greene and Phillips says there are a few questions you should ask a lawyer before you hire him. That first question you should ask is how many cases that lawyer has handled that are similar to yours.

David Greene says that's an important question because the experience a lawyer has, especially in the Personal Injury field, can mean a big difference in the result of your settlement. He says hiring a lawyer with years of experience will help you because he or she should already have relationships established with insurance adjusters, and that lawyer will know the ins and outs of the applicable laws. The lawyers at Greene and Phillips have handled thousands of personal injury cases of all types.

The second question you should ask a potential lawyer is what system his or her firm has in place to keep track of cases. David says it may surprise some people to find out that their lawyer is working on their case based on a paper file folder, which can mean lost records or getting put at the bottom of a to-do list or even forgotten.

The attorneys at Greene and Phillips use an advanced paperless system that helps ensure no files or records get lost or misplaced, and that there is always a staff member on the case to move it closer to settlement. David says with this system, they are settling claims months faster than they were just a few years ago.

The third question you should ask your potential lawyer is about settlement values. That's an important question because you need to know that you are working with a reputable firm that has experience. Secondly, when you’re fighting an insurance company to get the full value of your claim, it can help tremendously when you are being helped by a firm that has had multi-million dollar settlements. The insurance adjustor pays very close attention when a lawyer like that is calling them. And finally, it means your lawyer won’t settle your case for less than it’s worth.

The lawyers at Greene and Phillips have had several multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements, including a landmark $9.5 million settlement for a young lady who was struck in her car by a big truck whose driver wasn’t paying attention and sailed through a red light.
