The guys from Carolina Liar stop by Studio10!

Carolina Liar will be playing at The Wharf on Monday August 6, 2012! The pop-rock band is on a national US tour with Kelly Clarkson and The Fray to support their 2011 release Wild Blessed Freedom.

Carolina Liar consists of Chad Wolf, vocals/guitar, Rickard Göransson, guitar, Johan Carlsson, bass/keyboards, and Peter Karlsson, drums. A few years back, Wolf boarded a plane for the first time and headed west in search of greener pastures. A stranger in a strange town, he worked a series of odd jobs to make ends meet before landing an internship with renowned songwriter Diane Warren, whom he credits with helping to sharpen his songwriting skills. It was a chance gig house-sitting for famed Swedish producer Max Martin that completely changed his game.

While living in Stockholm, Wolf met the rest of what would become Carolina Liar through mutual friends of Martin. The four quickly bonded over common tastes in music and they agreed to play on Wolf’s tracks.

That record became Coming to Terms, released in May 2008, which lead to being featured as the “Breaking” artist in Rolling Stone, as well as features in Billboard and People. Fueled by the hit singles "I'm Not Over" and "Show Me What I'm Looking For," the disc became one of 2008's most acclaimed debut releases, with the band's songs generating nationwide airplay on modern rock and alternative stations, and appearing in such TV shows as The Vampire Diaries, American Idol, Gossip Girl and The Hills. Spotlighted as an iTunes Single of the Week, "Show Me What I'm Looking For" logged more than 600,000 downloads, and "I'm Not Over" shot to No. 3 on Billboard's Modern Rock Chart.

The band has toured extensively in support of the first album, sharing stages with the likes of One Republic, Rob Thomas, Gavin DeGraw, The Academy Is…, and We The Kings. They also performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Ellen Degeneres Show, played themselves in an episode of 90210, and were featured in both MTV's "Discover & Download" and VH1's "You Oughta Know" programs.

The quartet makes a substantial step with Wild Blessed Freedom, an album that features a dozen bracing band-penned tracks that demonstrate the group’s remarkable knack for widescreen song-craft and personally charged performances. While the set is more musically and emotionally expansive than its much-loved predecessor, it simultaneously pares the effortlessly catchy material down to its raw essence.

Released on the band's own Liar label, Wild Blessed Freedom finds Carolina Liar jumping from the major label world to independent status as they embrace the challenges of self-sufficiency. It's that sort of restless creativity that makes Wild Blessed Freedom a consistently riveting and rewarding listen.
