Mobile Works recently announced it will invest $764,000 for short term training programs for laid off workers. Mobile Works has partnered with Tri-Nova, Volunteers of America and Bishop State to provide these services. The goal?  Get the skills and you’re in a position to get a job in that field or profession.

Mobile Works is the local work investment agency operating under Alabama’s Workforce Investment Act. Mobile Works provides short term training and employment programs to prepare job seekers with the necessary skills to compete in today’s job market.  Mobile Works is one of three local workforce investment areas. Other local workforce areas include Jefferson County and the balance of state.

Mobile Works is part of the One-Stop Career Centers. The purpose of the Career Center is to allow job seekers the opportunity to access several services at a central location. Job seekers have access to the following services:

  • On-site job fairs
  • Free computer access for job search
  • Use of fax, copier and telephone access to communicate with prospective employers at no cost
  • Raining opportunities through Mobile Works
  • Adult basic education through Bishop State Community College
