MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Three additional cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Alabama, bringing the total number of people affected by the virus to four.
Jim McVay, who directs the state's Bureau of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease, said Monday that there are now nine probable cases in Alabama.
He said the additional cases were identified over the weekend, including one in Jefferson County.
Three of the confirmed cases are in Madison County children and the fourth is a Montgomery County woman who is in her 20s.
McVay said the Alabama Department of Public Health has received more than 300 samples from all over the state for testing.
