BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Electronic bingo is back in Jefferson County along with big crowds.
Several electronic bingo halls reopened Friday night to a steady stream of patrons.
About 15 bingo halls in the county closed last month to prevent raids. But at least five in Fairfield, one in Lipscomb and one in an unincorporated part of the county decided to reopen after a court ruling limited the Governor's Task Force on Illegal Gambling.
Electronic bingo halls in Bessemer did not reopen after the police chief said he considered the games against the law.
