MOBILE, Ala. - A sign on the door at House of Brides is telling customers to go
to a shop in Daphne, Brides Maids Galore and More. Donna Carpenter
is the owner. "This is the third time since I have seen in the last
30 years to see what these stores go into and leave these brides
hanging," said Carpenter.
She added if your dress still in production, she may be able
to call suppliers and have the dress shipped directly to her store
instead of House of Brides. However, for those dresses already at
the shop there is not much she can do for brides. "If the dress has
already been received at House of Brides, they will probably have
to reorder altogether."
Denise Reavis spent almost 900 dollars for her daughter's
dress. She paid in full. Reavis did call the store, but got a voice
recording. "That's the only time I talked to anybody and that's not
a person, that's just a recording," said Reavis. Reavis said she
will fight for that special dress.
And in the meantime other couples who hope to eliminate any
more pre-wedding anxieties may be able to still find that favorite
white gown . The voice recording said they company will start
issuing refunds beginning December 1, 2008. But you have to call
and leave your contact information.
The number is 605-2681.
