BAY MINETTE, Ala. -
Thursday night investigators arrested 23-year-old Leslie Eric Buzbee after he was indicted for Capital murder. Buzbee, named a "person of interest" in the Wilson case last September, is now a prime suspect.

"This is just the first step in the process. This is a Grand Jury charging Mr. Buzbee and we expect to try this case in the courts and not the media," said Baldwin Co. District Attorney Judy Newcomb.

Friday's announcement comes nearly six months since the crime against service station owner Bobby Wilson, who passed away in December of complications from the attack.

"Although it's been long, it's been thorough, it's been fair. This is a good investigation that'll take the next step in the criminal justice process," said Baldwin Co. Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack.

Friday afternoon during a bond hearing, Buzbee's attorney, John Beck, called the case "weak", saying his client has been "under a pile of suspicion". "It sounds to me like this is the flimsy of the flimsiest of cases. It's a house of cards that's going to come tumbling down very quickly," Beck said after the hearing. Beck argues the indictment is full of holes because no murder weapon has been recovered, without any physical evidence connecting Buzbee to Wilson's Service Station that early Saturday morning last August.

Investigators now have to prove otherwise. "This is as serious as it gets. It is a serious case. Because of that we want to make sure that a thorough investigation is done and we believe that the best possible investigation that could have been done has been done," Mack said.

The Wilson family said they prefer not to comment on the arrest.

Friday night Buzbee was being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center without bond on capital murder charges.
