ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - A church in Orange Beach hopes to spread the word by making the cost of groceries more affordable for everyone.
The Christian Life Church in Foley is stepping up it's food bank to include the Angel Food Ministry. It's not a food give-away, but it can cut the cost of groceries in half for any family.
"Our pastor had found out, because he's interested in reaching at the people in our community, and ministering to them, and we're looking at ways that we can benefit and help people through this time of financial difficulty." said a church member.
Church member Margaret Whitley said it's such a good deal she's trying it out herself.
"They have a package where you get ten meals for $28. I can put them in the freezer and then I have dinner, because I don't like to cook all the time." Whitley said.
Whitley put in her order through the church which is a new distribution center for Angel Ministries. It's a $65 box of food for just $30, and the menu changes from month to month.
They say one unit will feed a family of four for a week. The March menu is already posted on the Angel food website.
The various food package deals include fresh and frozen meats and vegetables. You can also purchase a package of prepared meals.
"From my understanding it's food is good quality. It's good quality food" Whitley said. And Whitley said it's a good deal for anyone struggling to make ends meet.
The Angel Food Ministries also accepts Food Stamps. The food deals are available to anyone, regardless of income.
You can check the
Angel
Food Ministries site to find out the closest distribution
center to you, the
