GULF SHORES, Ala. - Food, family and friends, and fireworks! These things are the traditions of the Fourth of July, but could one of those traditions be cut out for the City of Gulf Shores this year? What would the Fourth of July be without fireworks?

"It would be like the third of July," said Jim Sugarman.

Yes, it just wouldn't be a celebration without lighting up the sky. Jim Sugarman is the General Manager of The Hangout in Gulf Shores and said you can't beat the show on the beach.

"The beach is entirely covered, you can barely walk to the Gulf without stepping on someone. It's a big weekend for us," said Sugarman.

So when he and others heard about the possibility of Gulf Shores not having their annual fireworks show many were worried because of how much fun it is and how much business would be turned away. Well, put your worries to rest.

"In the rush with trying to get the budget adopted we had the reduction of force to work with at the end of the year the money for the fireworks show just got left out of the budget inadvertently," said Steve Garman, Gulf Shores City Administrator.

Garman said around the same amount that is allotted every year will be budgeted again this year.

"Now we're going to go back and put it back in but there will be a fireworks show in the city of Gulf Shores," Garman said.

The fireworks show is budgeted around $40,000 each year.
