BAY COUNTY, Fla. - Fox 10 News gave you the story about one-year-old Johna Osborn, who was allegedly burned when her father, John Osborn's, meth lab exploded.

John Osborn is in jail in Bay County, Florida.

Osborn says he was not cooking meth. He says he was cooking french fries.

"I looked over at the grease and it didn't look hot. I did my hand like that in the grease and it started jumping. It jumped out and Whoof!" said Osborn.

Osborn says when the pan he was cooking in went up in flames, he tried to get it out of the mobile home he and his girlfriend Tessa Wagy were renting, as fast as he could. But he says tripped over his one-month-old son on the way out.

"I'm coming through the front door with flames, i'm getting burned, bad. But I didn't want to burn the man's house down. And I tripped over one of the legs. When I tripped, I looked and my baby, I flipped her out, and her mama gets her and I tell her to call 911," said Osborn.

We showed Osborn the picture of the burned playpen. He said it wasn't charred as much as it was in the picture when he saw it last.

"My baby didn't stay in there that long," said Osborn.

Baby Johna stayed in the crib long enough to suffer burns on almost half of her body.

Osborn says he's getting a bad rap for what happened. He said, "I just need to get this stuff cleared, you know what I mean? I'm not no meth head. All I want to do is raise my family. They don't even know me. They're judging a book without opening it up, you know what I mean?"

Osborn and the baby's mother, Tessa Wagy, are charged with aggravated child abuse, manufacturing methamphetamine resulting in injury to a child, and possession of a listed chemical.
