Funeral arrangements made for principal

BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Lunch hour at Streets Restaurant was different Thursday because a familiar face wasn't there.

Leah Ann Overstreet, the principal of Delta Elementary School, died Tuesday from complications of the H1N1 virus.

Overstreet's family owns Streets Restaurant and employees were too heart broken to speak with us Thursday. Their friend, Harry Shivers, spoke for them.

"You don't forget someone like her. She really stands out and sticks in your mind. She was a go getter," said Shivers,"It was like a bad dream. I said no this can't be happening."

Friends said she will be remembered for her soft tone and loving heart.

"My wife and I, we prayed and we know Leah Ann is in a better place now and the good Lord is taking her home.She is outstanding."

Overstreet will be buried this weekend in Bay Minette, Ala.

The wake for Leah Ann Overstreet will be Friday night at First Baptist Church of Bay Minette and the funeral will be held at the same location Saturday morning at 11a.m.
