MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - State Rep. Mike Hubbard has been elected to serve a second two-year term as chairman of the Alabama Republican Party.
The Alabama Republican Executive Committee re-elected Hubbard without opposition at the party's winter meeting Saturday. Hubbard of Auburn was elected to his first term in 2007 and will continue to lead the party through the 2010 elections.
The Republican Committee also elected George Williams of Baldwin County to be the party's senior vice president. Williams becomes the first black to serve in one of the state party's top two leadership positions.
Williams has been serving as chairman of the Alabama Republican Council, the black wing of the state party.
