DAPHNE, Ala. - A burglary at Eddie's Pawn Shop in Daphne leaves ten guns on the streets.

Just three hours after the store closed Wednesday night, the suspect pried open a window with a hammer and screwdriver. Once inside, he passed hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and went straight to the gun counter.

"They didn't look at anything else...busted out the gun case, took the guns that they wanted and got right back out of the store. They were going in there with a purpose," said Lieutenant Jud Beedy.

After the man was in the store, he went to the glass gun case and shook it. He then walked around the counter, broke the case and picked out the guns he wanted.

Ten guns with a value of $6,000 were stolen from the store.

"We cant remember the last time a major business including a pawn shop or any kind of business that sells a lot of guns has been broken into, and guns specifically targeted like this," said Lieutenant Beedy.

Beedy said the department's goal is to find the guns and get them off the street as soon as possible.

The stolen guns have serial numbers that have been entered into the national crime computer. If any law enforcement agency comes across them, the daphne police department will be notified.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary has been asked to call the Daphne Police Department at (251) 621-9100.
