ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - "It started with what I thought was hail, but then I got up and saw what was going on," said Jerry Sides.

Sides was beside herself early Friday morning, when she woke up and saw her house literally falling apart in the front and the back. But she had no idea what was happening to her exterior garage.

"I didn't notice all this damage because I wouldn't come out until it got daylight," she said.

The major damage was to her garage roof and even though Sides says it did have hurricane straps, they were no match for whatever came through Thursday night. "This is the worst damage we've had," Sides said.

She now has the task of picking up the many pieces of her home and lawn. But she says it's better to have a roof over her head, than none at all, "I'm safe, that's what matters."

Sides says she probably had the worst storm damage on her block, but just about every house had some kind of roof or yard damage.
