ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - With polished shoes and resumes in hand, job seekers waited patiently in the foyer at Baldwin County Coliseum. Some people arrived around 9:30 a.m.

Bonnie Aiken told FOX10 News she needs work and she needs it now. "I never had this much problem finding a job," said Aiken.

Thaddeus Burns recently graduated from college. He says that's when he got a tough lesson in life. "You're almost programmed to think as soon as you get out of college, you are going to have something waiting, it's not," said Burns.

Various employers including Regions, Aflac, and Mercy Medical took part in the job fair. "The medical field is always going to be out there, so if it's possible to get into the medical field, do it," said Lynn Paschal with Mercy Medical.

But the longest lines were for companies like Austal and Northrop Grumman. "I am an electrician and I hope to find some place for me," Vinny Diaz told FOX10 News.

Though employers say on-site hiring is rare, coming in and filling out an application is the first step to getting permanent employment.
