MOBILE, Ala. - Esquire Magazine traveled around rating bars to compile their list of the best bars in America. Two bars in the Port City made the cut. Blue Gill Restaurant Manager, Austin Crooke told FOX10 News, "People like to come out on the 3,000 square foot deck and enjoy themselves."
Blue Gill on the Causeway is lauded for it's live music. The bar comes to life on Sunday nights. "I started 10 years ago and it's kind of built since then and every year it gets a little bigger." Crooke said.
Another local bar made the list for a different reason. Callaghans Irish Social Club is Mobile's version of "Cheers." "I don't think there's any bar like Callaghans in Mobile," said bartender Jordan Wright.
Wright said the homey vibe is what people love. "It's got a ton of history and it's a neighborhood bar and people feel genuinely comfortable coming and hanging out here," he said.
Of course the list is open for argument, but it's good publicity
if you can get on the list. You can check out the list here
