ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - It was a rude-awakening for some people along the Gulf Coast Friday morning when severe weather hit Baldwin County. This was one of the hardest hit areas.

One Robertsdale family was without a home Friday night after a huge oak tree destroyed theirs. Oak trees toppled like twigs in Robertsdale.

"I've never heard anything like this before," said Jennifer Parsons. Parsons was asleep with her family when branches came flying through her ceiling.

She said a giant oak tree fell on the backside of her house, but that was right over her 5-year-old daughters room. "I didn't know if I was going to be able get to her, it was just the scariest moment of my life," Parsons said.

Parsons knocked over hanging drywall just to reach her daughter. She says water and foliage were falling all around them. They all got out moments later.

"We're alive and we're so grateful for that," she said. "No scrapes, no bumps, no nothing."

As for the house, it's unlivable. "It's just a house. We can always rebuild a house," Parsons said.

And hopefully, once again make it a home.
