The Salvation Army had a packed house Thursday. Volunteers served up a Thanksgiving feast for those who needed a hot meal. It's an event that takes days to get ready.

Before sunrise, Oscar Smith was hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Salvation Army's Thanksgiving meal.

Head Chef Cecil Morris said they started getting ready days ago.

"We started on Sunday and have been cooking since then. We did about 80 turkeys," said Morris.

Last year, 824 people came to the Salvation Army for turkey and all the trimmings. This year, the Salvation Army expects more people than ever before because of the current state of the economy.

"We found that this year a lot of people who have never had to come here are here now," said Major Ted Morris with the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army will dish out 150 pounds of dressing.

"My world famous dressing," said Cecil Morris.

It also takes an army of volunteers to make this meal possible. Ana Neese said it is her way of giving back.

"This is a good thing to do. [To] come down here and help. It is a blessing," said Neece.

The Salvation Army is now getting ready for it's Christmas dinner where it will once again serve hundreds of people.
