WASHINGTON (AP) - Leading Senate Republicans, including Alabama's Richard Shelby, are critical of the Obama administration's approach to the banking crisis, saying some of the big banks in trouble ought to be shut down.

The Tuscaloosa Republican made the comment Sunday on ABC's "This Week" Shelby said faltering giant Citibank has always been "a problem child."

The White House's top budget official asked for patience as the 6-week-old administration looks for solutions to the worldwide economic meltdown.
