TILLMAN'S CORNER, Ala. - A police chase and shoot out ends within feet of a Tillman's
Corner daycare. At least one bullet hit the daycare, and shattered
a window. Tabitha Richardson was on the other side of that window
when the bullet came through.
"I ducked for cover," said Richardson. "I couldn't believe
what I was hearing and I am still a little shaken up."
Richardson works for Kidz Korner and said Thursday around
3:20 p.m. dozens of police cars and sirens flooded the area
surrounding her work place. Richardson said the bullet came through
the top window pane and lodged in the metal frame.
"Kids were sitting right in front of another window, and it
could have hit them," said Richardson.
Kidz Korner workers said some parents decided against sending
their kids to school Friday, out of fear.
Jim Wrighter owns a car wash right next door to the daycare
and said he heard all of the commotion and came out to look.
"I saw the suspects car, and all the police cars and heard
the gun shots," added Wright. "I got behind my truck when I heard
bullets hitting the walls of my car wash."
The suspect that was killed has been identified as James Hill
from Lafayette, Louisiana. He has been arrested several times
for Robbery, but the charges were dropped.
Fox10 News will have more on the investigation, robbery and shooting tonight on Fox10 News beginning at 5 p.m.
