Baby burned in apartment fire

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - A seven-month-old infant has been hospitalized after being burned in an apartment fire. The child's mother, 21-year-old Caroline Bramlet, has been arrested for Aggravated Child abuse, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The electricity to Bramlet's apartment, located at Oakwood Terrace Apartments on Truman Ave., was disconnected Thursday. According to officials, several candles were used to illuminate the bedroom where the baby was sleeping. One of the candles fell onto the bed starting a fire. The infant suffered burns to her scalp before being removed from the bed.

The infant was taken to the hospital and treated for her injuries. Drug Paraphernalia was also located inside the apartment. The Florida Department of Children and Families was contacted and took custody of the infant.

Bramlet has been arrested and is being charged with Aggravated Child Abuse, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
