MOBILE, Ala. - The countdown to the 74th Iron Bowl is underway and the University of South Alabama football program has several iron ties.

In 2009, South Alabama Head Coach Joey Jones led the Jags to an undefeated inaugural football season. In the early 1980s, Jones helped lead the Crimson Tide onto the field for the Iron Bowl.

Jones isn't the only Jags coach with iron ties. Linebackers Coach Kurt Crain and Wide Receivers Coach Dameyune Craig are both former Tigers.

Despite the opportunity for some good-natured teasing, the coaches said they typically refrain from that.

Of the three coaches, Crain is the only one to have played in the Iron Bowl as both a player and a coach. He was a Defensive Line and Linebackers Coach for Auburn from 1993 to 1996.
