What is Twitter?

MOBILE, Ala. - In the past, when you wanted someone to know what you were doing, you would call them or maybe send an email. But things have definitely changed. We now have Facebook and MySpace, but the new thing is Twitter.

Chris Michael's job at WABB is to entertain you while playing music, but something new has been added to his job, to twitter.

"It's been huge, when we went on the air the first day we already had 100 followers after one day," Michaels said.

Now they have almost 400 followers and they "tweet" all day. Yes, tweet. Here is the breakdown. You create a twitter profile. Once you have your profile you can update it any time during the day. For Michaels it's a way to let listeners behind the scenes.

"The main thing is just talk about what you are doing. 'we're going to lunch,' 'we're going backstage to meet an artist,'" Michaels said.

Twitter is the name of website, but "tweeting" is what you do. It's kind of like instant messenger that you can keep updating. You can have followers who want to see what you are tweeting and you can follow other people to see what they are tweeting. It's just another step as the internet grows bigger and bigger.

"Everything is web, whatever is on the air is online. The website is the way to go," Michaels said.

From businesses to just everyday people, Twitter is the new way to let people know what you are doing, simply by tweeting.
