MOBILE, Ala. - "What's if Worth?" brought out hundreds of folks from Mobile and the surrounding areas. The event's proceeds went to the Penelope House and the Historic Preservation Society of Mobile.
A rare find came up on Thursday, when an appraiser saw a piece of George Orr pottery. The value: in between $15,000 and $20,000. Others brought furniture, political satire books dating from the 1800s, and a Native American basket. Several Civil War items were brought in to be appraised.
On Friday, one person brought in a Centennial U.S. flag, with the thirteen stars for the first thirteen colonies. Instruments were a big item that rolled in as well.
Some folks were even willing to sell their items on the spot, if it meant a quick buck.
April Douglas will have a recap of Thursday and Friday's rather surprising and successful "What's it Worth?" benefit. That's tonight, on FOX10 News at 5:00 p.m.
