VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Several hundred people turned out for the funeral for former Auburn University football player Ed Christian, who was shot to death last week.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at Mathis City Auditorium in Valdosta. The service came a day after family and friends gathered Friday to pay their respects to the former Georgia high school football standout at a funeral home in Quitman.

Christian and another former Auburn football player, Ladarious Phillips, were killed along with DeMario Pitts at a pool party June 9 at an apartment complex near the university. All three men were 20. Three others were wounded in the shooting.

Funerals for Phillips and Pitts were held in Alabama Friday.

Demonte Leonard is in jail on capital murder and assault charges.
