TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Records show that during the past year, more than 81 University of Alabama administrators and professors joined the list of those who make more than $100,000 a year.
The Tuscaloosa News obtained salary information for university employees through an open records request.
In all, 516 UA employees outside the Athletic Department make more than $100,000.
The newspaper reported that is up from 435 last fiscal year.
Some of those at the top end of the pay scale got raises of as much as $28,000. UA spokeswoman Deborah Lane said the university gives raises based on merit, as determined by annual performance evaluations.
The median paycheck at UA is now $45,758. The median for all full-time workers in Tuscaloosa is around $33,000.
