BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The parents of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin are coming to Alabama to demonstrate against violence and raise money for a private foundation.

Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton will be in Birmingham on Thursday for a "Hoodie Freedom Walk" at a downtown park. They will also participating in an event to raise money for a foundation established after the teenager's shooting death in Sanford, Fla.

A neighborhood watch volunteer is facing a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of 17-year-old Martin. His killing in February prompted protests nationwide.

The youth's parents are in Birmingham at the invitation of a community activist. They are speaking out against "stand your ground" laws that grant legal protection to people who use deadly force.
