TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa city officials are planning a community memorial service on April 27, the one-year anniversary of the tornado that struck the city.
The Tuscaloosa News reports the event is planned for 5 p.m. at Government Plaza.
Officials say the service is intended to honor the lives lost in the storm and pay tribute to "all of those who gave their time, talents and treasure." City officials also plan a "week of remembrance" with other community-sponsored events.
Officials said more information regarding the community memorial service, as well as a list of scheduled activities, would be released later.
More than 50 people died in Tuscaloosa County after the tornado.
