Tuscaloosa prepares for big BCS game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WALA) - HOME TOWN EXCITEMENT

It has been a bit quiet on the Alabama campus.

Holiday vacation doesn’t end until Wednesday. January 9 and many students are in their home towns. The lucky ones are in South Florida for the game.

That doesn’t mean Tuscaloosa is quiet.

Kelly Knox-Hall described the scene at the Ferguson Center last year.

"Last year they were doing Rammer Jammer and cheers, and they all brought shakers," she said.

Hundreds of students are expected at the watch party at the Ferguson Center Monday evening. With the level of success Alabama has had, it's almost become an annual tradition.

"It's becoming rather regular for us," Knox-Hall said. "We had a great game last year, 'the rematch' we called it, and we had about four or five hundred students that were here, great atmosphere, cheering on the tide and obviously a great result and were hoping for the same this year."

ON CAMPUS AND OFF CAMPUS

While quite a few students will be at the Ferguson Center enjoying the game, you can bet there will be a lot of other students, just off campus, in different venues.

"We're going to have the televisions wide open, the sound wide open, every television in here on Alabama (football)," Anthony Foster said.

In T-Town, Alabama tradition is served every day. There is no day quite like this day, however.

At Baumhower’s wings, general manager and Tuscaloosa native Anthony Foster is excited for more than just the business the game will bring.

"It's going to be a live atmosphere up here tonight. It's going to be electric. We're going to have fans in here, the staff is pumped up. We're ready for a big shift and we’re ready to bring a championship back home tonight,” Foster told us.
