PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Another teenager is arrested in a burglary ring, accused of more than 50 crimes in Pensacola. Deontrez D. Tillman, 16, is the latest suspect arrested. Friday, people affected by these crimes can reclaim their stolen items.
Tillman has been charged with burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief. He was charged in connection with a residential burglary that happened January 8 on the 1700 block of East Maura Street.
Investigators say the burglary ring has victimized more than 50 homes in the East Hill and North Pensacola areas.
"They were casing out places beforehand," said Sgt. Jim Andrews of the Pensacola Police. "They were going back during the day time; going mostly after electronics, TVs, things like that."
Shane Williams, 23, Christopher Powers, 19, Jamarius James, 18, and Shealton Parker, 16, are in jail for their suspected connection with the break-ins. Tillman was arrested Monday. Between the five, the suspects face 55 different charges, and there might be more.
"The investigation is ongoing. There could be additional arrests and charges filed on these guys at a later date," said Andrews.
Stolen property will be available for reclamation on Friday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. People should bring some type of identification or receipts for the property.
"If they were involved in a specific crime, we'll look those cases up. If they have any identification in terms of property that would be helpful - model numbers, serial numbers, things like that," he said.
If residents don't have receipts, they can still reclaim their property.
"If there's gonna be some confusion about that, we'll do follow-up to determine if we can release to them at a later date. But they do need to come down and look at the property. We have quite a bit here and we'd like to return it to them," Andrews said.
