Foley man arrested for deadly accident

FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) - A Foley man faces charges after a wreck claims the life of a little girl.

It happened at the intersection of County Road 65 and airport road in Foley.

Friday FOX10 News spoke to the suspect’s mother who hopes someone will help clear his name.

If you look closely, you can see something happened here. But what the debris and tread marks don't say is that a 9-year-old girl was killed when two cars collided at the intersection of County Road 65 and Airport Road in Foley.

The crash happened Sunday, September 16.

Now, 24-year-old Patrick "Shawn" Williams is facing charges connected to her death.

"My heart goes out to her mother," said Wanda Williams.

Williams said her son feels bad about what happened, but she said it wasn't his fault.

Investigators said they believe otherwise.

Foley Police Lt. Shawn Miller said Williams failed to yield the right of way and his vehicle crashed head on into a Dodge Charger.

Three people inside the Dodge were injured including the driver, Tameca Brown, along with a 4-year-old little girl and the 9-year-old girl who died.

"In my heart, I know he did not do it," said Wanda Williams.

Five days would pass before Williams would be charged. Police said once the little girl died the investigation shifted.

County Road 65 and Airport Road are busy intersections. Wanda Williams hopes someone who may have seen the accident will come forward.

"Anybody out there that know, that seen something. I need them to step forth with it," said Williams.

Foley police said they're still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Patrick "Shawn" Williams is being held without bond.

Foley police said he is expected in court sometime next week.
