Child found wandering, mother arrested

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. - A child was found by a taxi driver wandering down Gulf Beach Highway. He was found around 3:30 a.m.

The driver called the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, who came to investigate. The Department of Children and Family Services took the child into their custody.

Tips led deputies to the child's mother's last known address. While authorities were canvassing the neighborhood, they found out the woman had turned herself into the Escambia County Jail.

Sarah Jean Miller, 22, had an outstanding warrant for her arrest on petit theft charges. Charges are also pending on the case of her son.
