MILTON, Fla. - A heinous crime happened in broad daylight, and less than a mile away from a police station. Police say a woman went from walking down a Florida highway, to being sexually abused within minutes.
Police say the victim was walking down a Munson road, when a blue car pulled up, the driver claiming to be a police officer.
"He said something along the lines of the way she was walking up the roadway, 'I could arrest you for walking where you are,'" Captain David Cox with the Milton Police Department said.
He then offered the woman a ride, apparently putting her at ease.
"Made statements to her, leading her to believe he was a law enforcement officer. She thought it was safe to take a ride with him," added Cox.
Police say the suspect told her he'd take her home, but once she got in the car, he made a u-turn and took her to a park.
"She was in backseat of the car, he turned around, took her back to the location, and sexually abused her. She fought him off and got away," Cox said.
The woman ran straight to the police station. They say the suspect wasn't wearing a uniform, never showed identification, and his car looked nothing like a police car.
They're hoping someone saw the man, so a real police officer can take him for a ride to jail.
Investigators don't have a good description of the suspect. All they know is he was in a dull blue four-door vehicle.
