ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) - BOY HELD AT KNIFE POINT

Kathie Marie Godsey, 56, is in the Baldwin County Jail charged with kidnapping, menacing, and public intoxication. Orange Beach Assistant Police Chief Greg Duck said the charges stem from a frightening incident late Friday afternoon at Cotton Bayou.

“A lady had taken a young boy by knife and forced him into the bathroom,” Duck said.

Chief Duck said the boy was cleaning off his body board when Godsey came up from behind and put a knife to his neck. And then, at knife point, witnesses said Godsey dragged the boy into the women’s bathroom.

“There was a lot of people sitting there watching what was going on. It was scary; the lady had a knife,” Duck said.

BOY RESCUED BY FATHER

According to police, the boy’s father rushed Godsey, got control of the knife, and held her until cops could come. When cops arrived, they said Godsey acted erratic.

“She made a statement that she wanted somebody to shoot her,” Duck told us.

Godsey is homeless and has crossed paths with the local police before.

“She’s got some underlying issues that’s going to have to be dealt with which were trying to do as we speak,” Duck said.

PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION FOR GODSEY

Nobody was injured during this incident.

Police have requested that Godsey get a psychiatric evaluation.
