FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (WALA) - Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies say they arrested a man a deputy saw twirling a handgun and pointing it down the street on Mayflower Drive.

Authorities say Antonio McLaughlin, 30, is a convicted felon and, therefore, not allowed to have a gun.

When a deputy ordered him to the ground on August 16, McLaughlin reportedly put the Ruger .380 handgun into his pocket then hit the deputy as he approached him. The OCSO says he then took off running.

Two deputies were able to chase him down and restrain him, but the suspect kept fighting.

McLaughlin was arrested and charged with improper exhibition of a firearm, battery on an officer, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting with violence.
