Police say man was shot twice during drug deal

PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - A man is in the hospital after he was shot twice during a drug deal in Prichard early Sunday, according to police.

Police said the man was in the car with a female friend at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 20 attempting to buy marijuana when the deal turned bad and he was shot twice.

The incident happened on the corner of Leeds Avenue and Persons Street in Prichard. Police say the man drove to the corner with a female friend in the car looking to buy marijuana.

When the person they were buying the drugs from shot into the car, he hit the male victim once in the arm and once in the head. The victim was transported to USA Medical Center and is in critical condition from the head wound.

Prichard police are investigating the incident.
