MOBILE, Ala. - FOX10 News is digging a little deeper into the story of a fatal bank robbery that went down Thursday afternoon in Mobile.

Some important information was uncovered about James Hill, the robber who was shot to death after a high speed chase.

"This was a very very bad case of mistaken identity."

That was James Hill, the man who police say was behind Thursday's armed bank robbery, chase, and who was eventually fatally shot by police.

Hill was interviewed by a Louisiana TV station after he was arrested for three armed bank robberies in Texas, Louisiana and Meridian, Mississippi in 2007.

He claimed he was innocent.

"18 months of my life, 18 months of my freedom, you can't replace that," said Hill.

Hill was held in jail for 18 months before charges were dropped. Despite these pictures, showing a man identified by a probation officer as James Hill, the District Attorney's office in Lafayette, Louisiana said there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute him.

Hill said, "My DNA shouldn't be on nothing, because I didn't do it."

Hill was no stranger to the law. His bank robbery arrests came after he served eight years in Texas for burglary.

FOX10 obtained Hill's arrest record from the state of Texas. It's over five feet long, and includes six arrests, dating back to 1981, on charges of theft, robbery and burglary.
