BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - Bay Minette police say a teenage girl is recovering after being held for eight hours and repeatedly raped by her ex-boyfriend.
Police have arrested Ruben Tejada, 17, in the case and he's facing a long list of serious charges.
Teenager kidnapped and raped
Tejeda is in the Baldwin County Jail.
Police say he held a 17-year-old girl at knife point in a shed behind his mother's house from Friday evening into early Saturday morning.
During that time, police said, he repeatedly raped her.
Sgt. Ray Dixon with the Bay Minette Police Department said, "She was stripped of her clothing and held for eight hours. No clothing, no cell phone, no keys, and unable to leave."
Police say the victim was eventually able to get away from Tejeda early in the morning.
She, along with her parents, immediately went to law enforcement. By the time officers arrived at Tejeda's home, he had fled, but police found evidence at the scene.
Dixon said investigators recovered a stolen pistol, "a lot of" drug evidence and a knife that was identified by the victim as having been used.
Suspect’s father also arrested
Police eventually caught up with Tejeda at his father's home in Robertsdale on Sunday.
Police say the teen admitted to being a drug addict.
"Started using meth within the last year and according to some of the friends I've spoke too that when he uses meth he becomes very violent," Dixon told us.
He was arrested and, now, 17-year-old Tejeda faces a long list of serious charges including, rape, sodomy, kidnapping, drug distribution, and weapons violations. He is being held with no bond.
His father, Ruben Christopher Tejeda, was arrested as well.
